One spring Bella and I flew to Barcelona, rented a tiny car, and drove through all the small, picturesque countries we could find in Europe, getting as far north as Feldkirch, Austria.
On the way from to Marseille, we saw this intriguing warren of streets from the highway. We pulled off and tried to drive to the downtown. Big mistake. Most streets were so tiny even our little car barely made it through. Everything was one-way and even two veteran travelers like us became quickly lost. Eventually we found the outer wall of the city and got out of there.
Something about that town drew us back, though. We finished our loop through Switzerland and decided to give it another shot, this time on foot. I’m so glad we did. It was incredibly memorable. Check out the beautiful doors and restaurants in the photos below.
