A Day in Chicago
I’ve always seen Chicago as a competitor to Detroit. Growing up they always had a better football team and a better cosmopolitan image. It wasn’t New York, the center of the word, nor was it Las Angelos, the. movie capital of the world, but it was always spoken of in ways Detroit was not. I have been there many times for work, visiting manufacturing sites on day trips, returning home for the evening. I even visited a friend once at his parent’s house near Midway Airport. That was the only time I had ever been downtown, visiting the observatory in the John Hancock building.
A four hour drive from home and $20 each for admission into 360 CHICAGO and I got to see that view again with my daughter.
The view has changed but so has the presentation. There are now glass boxes that extend out from the wall allowing brave visitors to come face to face with their fear of heights.
The glass boxes move out on a track so they can be brought back in during inclement weather.
I’ve been on the glass floor at the top of the CN Tower in Toronto but that was nothing like this experience. I honestly had a moment of hesitation as I stepped out on the glass. My head knew there was nothing to fear, but instinct said “what are you doing?! This is crazy!” Overcoming that fear gives the opportunity for a photo like this.
The city has a lot of great things to see.
Chicago is a great place to visit. I’m looking forward to going back and, next time, I’ll stay longer than a day. I always wanted to see a Blackhawks game live.
