Cancun Water Front Bar/Restuarant
Anyone who has been in Cancun’s Hotel Zone soon learns that in order to chill on or near the beach and have food and drink service pretty much requires that one have a room at one of the hotels on the water (for a higher price than those not on the beach). Although beach access is available, without a hotel’s wrist band, one will not have access to a toilet, shade, food, nor drink. One of the reasons we like Playa del Carmen so much is due to the fact that there are many beach clubs on the water where one can enjoy a day on the beach with service without having a room at an expensive hotel on the water.
On my last trip to Cancun, I finally found one of these beach clubs. It’s sort of hidden away, but not impossible to find.
People familiar with Cancun are aware of the “7” which depicts the shape of the barrier island.
The best directions I can give from the airport would be go directly up Blvd. Kukulcan to Coco Bongo. From Coco Bongo, the road turns to the left. About 500 feet after the turn, one will see the store Super Chedraui on the left.
To the right there is a sign to Playa Caracol. There is a Xcaret and Hertz sign on the right as well.
Just to the right of these businesses, one will see a long path.
Take this path to the end. On the right side, one will see a sign that reads “La Palma.”
Just go on in and enter. One can rent a chair on the beach, there are toilets and food and drink along with great views.
Here are some sample costs:
Guacamole 95 pesos
Specialty drinks (mojito, pina colada, etc…) 145 pesos
Heineken 70 pesos
This place offers great views and good guacamole. Just beware they will try to rip you off. They will add 15% to the bill saying it’s the optional VAT. That is an outright lie. NO tax is optional. That is the tip and they try to get an additional 15% making it a 30% tip. Don’t fall for it. Overall, I recommend this place, just don’t fall for the 15% scam.

Well. We just left there. The owner is a TOTAL A$$HOLE. Sorry I ever recommended the place.
