Ferry from Rimouski to Blanc Sablon, Quebec
Years ago, I was looking at a map of the Eastern part of Canada and noticed there were no roads to many communities.  I noticed that there were many ferry routes that connected these towns though.  So I did a bit of research and learned that these towns are all connected by a container ship/ferry service in the summer by Relais Nordik. Once I learned about this neat type of cruise, I  couldn’t let it rest until one day, I finally booked it.  To me, finding a trip like this is like finding a lost treasure.  I just love the nontraditional type of trip.  This will always be one of my favorite trips.
I flew to Montreal and from there I took the train to Rimouski, Quebec. Â In Rimouski, I boarded the ship on a four-day, four-night journey that stopped at the following communities:
- Rimouski
- Sept-ÃŽles
- Port-Menier
- Havre-Saint-Pierre
- Natashquan
- Kegaska
- La Romaine
- Harrington Harbour
- Tête-à -la-Baleine
- La Tabatière
- Saint-Augustin
- Blanc-Sablon
I opted for the least expensive accommodation which meant three people joined me in my room for four with a shared bath down the hall. Luckily, the people I ended up sharing my room with were an older couple traveling with their special needs son. Â They were real nice, and I felt lucky that I was safe.
The cost of my passage did not include meals so I often grabbed a quick bite in some of the port towns or paid to eat on the ship.
When the ship reached Blanc Sablon, I had a rental mini van waiting for me at the port and I set off to explore Labrador.
Here are some pictures from this very unique cruise.

how did you get home, same route or other? I have been looking at this route as well and up until now I assumed I might need to bring my car and then make my way south through Newfoundland and then NS. but I always prefer to not have my car if possible, but I would also prefer not to retrace steps. I know I can get there by train and then this “ferry”. and then rent a car. But did you then just return the same way? Thanks
I rented a car at the end of the ferry ride (they were there waiting for me) and drove to the airport after exploring. I flew to Happy Valley Goose Bay then flew to Montreal from there.
