Four Hour Layover in Shanghai

In August I purchased round trip airfare departing from Toronto in April to Manila for $546.50 a piece.  Our itinerary included a layover of just over four hours in Shanghai.

Upon arriving in Shanghai, we quickly got in line for a transit visa in order to explore the city.  I had been here on a previous trip, but I wanted to show my son the Bund. We quickly purchased our tickets for the Maglev train and were at the subway line in eight minutes.  The maglev travels at very high speeds!

Max speed of 301 km/h that’s over 187 miles per hour! Hard to take a clear picture at that speed.

We exited the maglev and transferred to subway line 2 and got off at Nanjing Road.  In China all bags at the subway go through a scanner. From there we were able to walk to the river and view the bund on the opposite shore.  Just follow the sign.

Very crowded sidewalks. Police kept people to the side so that one lane of traffic each way could pass

We headed back to the airport via subway and maglev with plenty of time for our connecting flight.
