Iguacu Falls

I visited the Iguacu Falls in 1995.  That trip afforded me the chance to view the falls from both the Argentinian side and the Brazilian side.  On my recent trip to the falls in 2016, I was only able to view them from the Brazilian side.  Since my last visit, the area has been updated with a massive visitors center and shuttles to the falls viewing area.  It has become a lot more commercialized. Admission price is based on one’s country of residency.  Since we are U.S. citizens, we were charged the equivalent of $15 each.  Allow at least two hours for this site.

Perhaps one of the first things one will notice are the raccoon-looking creatures called quatis (pronounced wa chees).  Resist the urge to feed them.

Signs are posted throughout the park stressing the risk to humans who attempt to feed these animals.

In total, there are 275 water falls at Iguacu.

If you choose to walk out on the platform, you’re going to get wet.  Ponchos are for sale or you can opt to do what I did; just trash pick one and throw it on.

The falls truly are spectacular and should be on the itinerary of any traveller to Argentina, Paraguay, or Brazil.
