Piran, Slovenia in Pictures

Just a thirty minute ferry ride from Trieste, Italy one will find one of the most beautiful European cities yet to be discovered by the masses:  Piran, Slovenia.  It’s hard to tell this city isn’t part of Italy for it was here where my son fell in love with prosciutto and Italian was still spoken until the mid 20th century.  One will fall in love with the medieval architecture, alleys and main square.  On the shore, people sun bath on a rocky beach.  A view from the bell tower is mandatory in order to view Tartini Square in its true beauty. One can see hints of Venetian architecture since the a Venetian merchant set up roots here.

The ferry leaves Trieste at 9:00 a.m. and arrives at 9:30 a.m. giving one a full day to explore the city. The cost of the passage is about 8.50 Euro.  Book tickets by emailing the Trieste Lines in advance.
