KCMO Union Station
Kansas City has a nice street car that travels along Main Street from the Missouri River in the north to Union Station at it’s southernmost end. It’s really nice and free!
At the end, just outside Union Station, everybody is forced off for a security check, but that was as far as I wanted to go anyway.
The main gallery is grand and gorgeous as you’d expect. It’s pretty photogenic and that seems to have attracted wedding parties on the first Saturday after Easter.
I’m not sure all of those are different groups but I know I counted at least five different parties after ignoring the first one. I can see why the place is popular.
Don’t forget the true purpose of the building is train travel.
I sort of feel bad to have missed the heyday of rail travel across the country. Bella has traversed both the US and Canada via rail, so it’s not unheard of, but it’s so much more convenient to fly.
Kansas City’s Union Station now has a museum for kids, shopping, a movie theater, and other things to attract visitors. It would be a shame to let this building fall into ruins.
