Best Beach Resort Town Near Rome

There are many beach areas near Rome, but if you’re looking for a special resort town with great hotels on the Mediterranean Sea, then look no farther than Sperlonga. We discovered this spot on our Italy road trip.  Sperlonga is located about two hours south of Rome, this lovely town would make a perfect beach getaway.  It’s downtown is great for strolling and the historic area is filled with winding alleys and restaurants abound. Take a break for some dark chocolate gelato and a cappuccino and take in the view of the sea.  I definitely think I will be back some day.
