Past Trips

Beartooth Pass

During 2020 we weren’t able to travel like normal. We decided to take a two week road trip instead. We drove out west in the pick up and ended up in Yellowstone. The the time came to head home we planned to take the Beartooth Pass Highway into Montana.

We came from down there

It begins at the north east corner of the part and essentially heads up over the 11,000 foot high mountain pass.

The drive was so beautiful. We went from summer temperatures at the start to looking for our winter coats as we went up.

We felt like mountain goats

There were plenty of pull offs where you could experience the breathtaking views and reflect on both where we came from and where we were heading. The wildlife was also a big attraction with the other travelers.

One of the many lookouts

I was struck by the groups of motorcycle riders who were coming from the other direction. I was freezing yet they were riding with bare heads and bare arms. They’re truly rugged individuals.

We eventually got to Montana and were ready for a quick coffee and reflected on where we’d come from. I see why everybody said this was not to be missed.

We really loved our trip. Some of it was a repeat for Bella but, personally, I don’t know how you could ever get tired of the region. It’s nothing like the sights we seen in Detroit. I’d do it again.
