Layover in Frankfurt, Germany

After an overnight Transatlantic flight from Toronto, we arrived in Frankfurt at 8:30 a.m.  Our next flight was departing more than 13 hours later at 10:05 p.m. With that much time, I doubt few people would wait around in the departure area of the airport.

I booked a hotel room at the Meiniger Hotel for $55.  The hotel was close to the airport, clean, and an overall good value. We checked in and went straight to bed for a few hours.  We woke, showered then ordered an Uber to take us to the main square for about $21.

The main square was beautiful.  We enjoyed just strolling around and taking it in.  We ate at Zum Schwarzer Stern Restaurant.  For two people, I spent just over $60.  That included a few glasses of wine.

When we returned to the hotel, it took quite a long time to get an Uber back; be prepared.  I would check my app early to see if cars are available and if they are not abundant, request one ASAP or schedule a pick up.

We checked out of the hotel and boarded the free shuttle back to the airport.
