Photos of Trieste, Italy

Most tourists leave Venice and either head on to Rome or Florence.  I have a suggestion for those of you who may have an extra day or so on your Italy trip and are looking for something to do.  Check out the beautiful seaside town of Trieste. From Venice Mestre station it’s only about a two hour train ride.  From there, one can catch a ferry to Piran, Slovenia.

Start your walking tour at the canal, then checkout the main square.  From there roam the many stores, coffee shops, and restaurants of the downtown before heading to the waterfront for a view.

The ferry port to Slovenia is located in the western end of the city and is easy walking distance from the canal.  If you’re planning to go to Piran, I recommend booking your ferry tickets online in advance.
