Paratay, Brazil in Photos

Paratay is a four hour bus ride from Sao Paulo. It’s a beautiful town painted mostly in white with splashes of color on the doors and windows.

We took the 9 p.m. bus from Sao Paulo and arrived around 1 a.m.  I booked a room last minute at Pousada Estrela do Mar and paid around $61 for the two of us.  The room was nothing fancy, but it was sufficient for the seven hours we spent there.  It was a bit out of town so we first explored the bay in the early morning before taking a taxi to the old town.  Getting a taxi was a bit of a challenge.  The hotel called one for us and we had to wait quite a while for him to show up. Of course, since there was no competition, he charged us a fair amount to drive us to the old town.  The old town is filled with restaurants and beautiful views.
