Ice Tower

Did I ever mention that I “lived” in Toronto? My employer leased an apartment in my name for a while and I was able to see some cool things I don’t want to take for granted.  That photo above was from my balcony.  Just like these.

Notice that building with the crane in the foreground, the one with the crane over it? That is the parking structure for a building I watched being built, day after day, taking photos planning to do some sort of time lapse. Maybe I still will one day. It’s out of the window on the left in the photo below.

Living there you get to catch some really different things, like this foggy day.

Game days for the Blue Jays were fun. Early in the morning the dome would start to open. It didn’t take very long and the occasionally open it during play.

Tours of the CN Tower are really fun, if you’re not afraid of heights.  My apartment was on the 31st floor, but not even close to that monstrous tower.

From there it is easy to pick out my building.

The tallest building there, with the Swiss cheese hat, is Ice II, where I lived.

Toronto is home of the Royal York Hotel, which is featured in many movies.

That clock in the lobby is in many movies and tv shows, usually in things that are supposed to be set in New York City. It’s movie magic, but at least they have the “York” part correct.

I miss my place in Toronto. It’s a great city that made me feel at home. Except for the taxes. I’d never get used to that.
