Sarnia Airport

It’s no secret that we use the Toronto airport for most of our European trips. Once I commuted to Toronto via the Windsor airport. and decided that it wasn’t worth it.

On my last trip I found a good price on tickets departing from the Sarnia airport which is just over an hour from the Detroit area. I thought it would be a good idea since I’ve driven back from Toronto in freezing rain once in April.

This airport is very small.

Here’s the parking lot.

I doubt it holds more than 100 cars. Remember your plate number because you pay for parking in the terminal. Parking costs about $7 a day. Not bad. You have to pay at a kiosk inside and predict how long you’re going to need in 24 hour increments.

It’s impossible to get lost here. There is only one way in.

The terminal consists of one check in desk and a baggage claim belt.

Don’t come hungry. The only items for consumption are coffee, pop, chips, and chocolate bars.

The plane is quite small also.

I would not use this airport again. Our return flight from Dublin was two hours late arriving to Toronto which caused us to miss our connection to Sarnia. There is only one flight a day from Toronto to Sarnia. I should have looked into that before booking our tickets. We ended up getting a flight to Detroit. From the Detroit airport, we took Lyft to our house and drove one of our cars to Sarnia to get our parked car. Turned out to be a very long night and a long time getting home.
