Exploring Victoria Falls

Exploring Victoria Falls can become rather expensive since it’s located in two countries and many people need visas to enter both countries.

We paid $80 each for our dual entry visas to  Zambia and $20 a piece to visit the falls on the Zambia side. We spent about two hours walking the paths and trails on the Zambian side of the falls.  Since we didn’t go during the rainy season, this side of the falls was not as full of water as it can become. The one trail we omitted was down to see the boiling pot.  We didn’t have water and I heard that were 635 steps down and back up.  I can’t verify if that is true, but I wasn’t going to risk a fall with that many steps. Instead, we opted to view the boiling pot from the bridge.  To do so, go to the immigration office secure a guest pass and with the guest pass you can walk out onto the bridge and look directly down into the boiling pot.

The next day, we crossed the border to Zimbabwe paid $30 each for a visa. In order to enter the falls there, the cost is $30 a person.  We spent about an hour exploring the falls on the Zimbabwe side. We found the falls on Zimbabwe side to be more impressive.

Our final vantage point of the falls was via helicopter.  The cost was $150 each for a 15 minute tour. The booking office is in town near the outdoor sculpture park.
